Our Resurrected King

Today we celebrate our risen King!
We might have Easter egg hunts, we might eat too much chocolate, we might be upset that we aren’t where we’d like to be… But the real reason we celebrate isn’t because of the easter bunny, nor spring break. The real reason is our Resurrected King!
We celebrate Jesus’ life.
-Not because He was a good man (even though He was a good man.)
-Not because of how essential His teaching was (even though it is still essential!)
-And not because of His miracles (even though He did do miracles!)
We celebrate Jesus’ life because He is still living! There is no tomb we can go visit to pay our respects. There is no memorial foundation to which we can give money, because He didn’t die on that cross!
Whenever we get together to remember what Jesus did (which should be all the time,) it should always end as a party and not as a funeral. When we look to the pain and suffering of Good Friday, we see victory in those nails, not defeat. When we look at the sadness and confusion of the disciples on Saturday, we see Jesus preparing to comfort them again.
Everywhere we look, we see a victorious and resurrected King!
There’s so much more that can be said about what this resurrection means for us (and so much that has already been said and written!) But I think it’s better to finish this with a reminder from the Apostle Paul.
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:34-39
Question: What does His Resurrection mean for you and your loved ones?
Challenge: Celebrate our King today. With your heart, with your thoughts, with your thanksgiving, with your faith. Nothing can get between us and our Resurrected King, so let’s believe and celebrate that today!
